Thank you to all who joined us for Compline by Candlelight in our medieval crypt chapel on Tuesday 2nd June, which was followed by our final St Olave Lecture before our summer break. This month we welcomed Professor Kate Loveman to speak about her latest book on Pepys. ‘The Strange History of Samuel Pepys Diary’ records how the diary came to be published and charts its reception over the ages from the first (heavily redacted) edition in the Georgian era until the present day. Please do buy her fascinating book which helps us to reflect not only on how we view the text of Pepys diary but other life records we encounter, including our own.
Please join us at 5.30pm on Tuesday 14th July for Choral Evensong when Samuel Pepys own Prayer Book will be on display. Register to receive an email reminder at this link.
This year we revived our “St Olave Lectures” – fascinating insights and conversation on diverse topics from engaging speakers. Details of forthcoming lectures are at this link.
