Sung Holy Communion for Bible Sunday
Sunday 25th October 2026 11am-12pm
Historic bibles from our archive will be displayed. Bring a bible you treasure as we celebrate the scriptures handed down through generations.
Christians believe that through the many voices and stories of the Bible we can hear God speaking to us today. How do we listen? At this special service we will explore what the Bible means to us and how we use and understand it: comparing different translations, thinking about how we approach difficult or challenging passages and asking how Scripture continues to speak into our lives and our world.
Bible Sunday reminds us that we do not read alone. We receive the Scriptures from generations before us and read them alongside Christians throughout the world. Bibles can carry their own histories too, through inscriptions, names, notes and memories which connect the words of Scripture with the lives of those who have read and treasured them. Historic Bibles from the St Olave’s archive will be displayed and we invite you to bring a Bible you use, treasure or find inspiration in, as we celebrate the Scriptures and their witness to Christ at the heart of our Christian faith.
