Carl Davis wrote the score for many films and TV programmes. His score for Pride & Prejudice is particularly memorable and he was subsequently commissioned to produce an abbreviated version of his score for violin and piano, with a spoken narration. The resulting and highly effective musical entertainment vividly recreates the popular 19th century musical genre of melodrama. A selection from this score will be played by Leora Cohen and Paul Wingfield with actress Sophie Max narrating.
