This is a working document.\u00a0 It is for everyone at St Olave Hart Street, to help us understand where we are going as a church, how we are going to get there and when we need to reach there by.\u00a0 It is about vision, from God, looking forward with anticipation to all He can do.<\/p>

We begin with an expectation that with God, nothing is impossible; that God alone can help us grow in numbers, to develop as disciples will give us what we ask in faith.<\/p>

There are 3 areas to work on which have been identified as:-<\/p>

Area 1: to be a sanctuary \u2013 to grow and nourish our faith in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit<\/strong><\/p>

Area 2: to be a place of grace \u2013 to grow in our relationships with each other and all who enter this sacred place<\/strong><\/p>

Area 3: to be a well spring – Reaching out to those on the Fringe\/outside the Church<\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/article><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A safe, sacred space, a \u201ccountry church in the heart of the City\u201d<\/p>

What we want to do? How? What do we need?<\/strong><\/p>

Be a safe, sacred place open to City workers, tourists, visitors<\/strong><\/p>

1. To be open for quiet, prayer and visiting during church during office opening hours, Monday -Thursday.<\/p>

Think about extending opening times.<\/p>

2. Displays of good quality evangelistic\/ prayer material<\/p>

3. To see the Churchyard as a place of sanctuary- through the labyrinth, displaying bible verses, talking to visitors<\/p>

4. Prayer wall on the website, prayers cards in the Trinity Chapel. To be prayed for on Tuesdays.<\/p>

Worship on Sundays<\/strong><\/p>

1. Liturgy prepared in an accessible booklet, including large print<\/p>

2. Music \u2013 to ensure really good quality music (organ, choir, cantors), publicise our service via website and social media<\/p>

3. Sunday Worship available on Zoom<\/p>

4. Strong preaching team, to preach accessibly with appropriate challenge.<\/p>

5. Rotas for readers and intercessors<\/p>

6. To emphasize hospitality and welcome \u2013 a culture of welcome from all church members, offer refreshments, have welcome cards.<\/p>

7. Space for prayer after each service \u2013 to develop prayer ministry.<\/p>

8. Grow numerically, and pray for growth<\/p>

Building a sense of community, a place of growth, linking the history to the sacred.<\/p>

Journey to grow in faith and understanding of the bible<\/strong><\/p>

2. Signposting to the local community \u2013 flyers\/digital about what is going on, choral music, readings, service.<\/p>

To be open to the opportunities for mission through tourism, celebrating the unique 1000 year history of St Olave\u2019s as a place of faith.<\/strong><\/p>

1. To celebrate and promote the unique and special history of St Olave\u2019s. Guide leaflet on monuments.<\/p>

2. To work towards increased opening hours 7 days a week<\/p>

3. An accessible guide book is for sale, History of St Olave since 1895 is also for sale (Brian Grumbridge),<\/p>

4. History of St Olave on the website<\/p>

5. To celebrate links with Pepys, information on the website<\/p>

6. Storytelling events around the history of St Olave\u2019s, egg through Pepys, Great Fire.<\/p>

To build a sense of community and welcome<\/strong><\/p>

1. To welcome all who come in and offer hospitality, offer prayer if requested.<\/p>

2. To offer welcome cards\/ online ways to connect<\/p>

To be generous stewards of all that God has given us \u2013 finances, gifts<\/strong><\/p>

1. To encourage regular giving, direct debits, gift aid, to teach on stewardship annually.<\/p>

2. To encourage the parish rates to be paid and thank doners.<\/p>

3. To be generous as a church to external charities e.g. Tearfund, The homeless- Suited and Booted.<\/p>

To be a church where children are welcome.<\/strong><\/p>

The love of Jesus flows out of our very being, to connect others to Christ, in word and deed.<\/p>

What we want to do? How? What do we need?<\/strong><\/p>

To be a locus for engagement with the arts, to reflect upon theology and the arts.<\/p>

1. Through music \u2013 by regarding the regular concerts as integral to the life and mission of the church.<\/p>

2. Through literature- reflections and services to commemorate the legacy of Samuel Pepys<\/p>

3. Participate in arts festivals across the City, e.g. Fragments<\/p>

4. Organise talks to engage with the monuments and structure of St Olave\u2019s<\/p>

5. To develop relationships with blue badge guides and school groups<\/p>

6. To put on special arts events e.g., a Pepys music and diary reading evening<\/p>

7. Celebrate 70 years since the re-hallowing of the church after the war damage.<\/p>

To see the twice weekly concerts as part of the mission of the church<\/strong><\/p>

1. To build good relationships with the concert organisers and the users, through welcome and connecting the music to the spiritual in this sacred place<\/p>

2. To introduce the concerts linking the music to the sacred history of the church<\/p>

3. Invite people to special and regular services<\/p>

4. To use the website and social media to promote events<\/p>

5. To develop a weekly newsletter to be sent out online.<\/span><\/p>

To build strong pastoral and worshipping relationships with the Livery Companies- the Clothworkers\u2019 Company, The Environmental Cleaners and Trinity House<\/strong><\/p>

1. Through St Olave\u2019s as a place of worship and connectivity to God for the Livery Companies and Tower Ward<\/p>

2. Through the chaplaincy of the rector, to offer pastoral and worship support<\/p>

3. To make the most of Christmas services as a way of connecting people to the Christian faith and to St Olave\u2019s.<\/p>

To show the love of Jesus practically to the homeless, refugees and those who suffer poverty<\/strong><\/p>

1. Support of the homeless through providing Pot Noodles\/ food\/ prayer\/ clothing<\/p>

2. Collecting and donating for Suited and Booted\/ Dressed for Success, the Afghan shop<\/p>

3. Being active partners in the City Hygiene Bank<\/p>

Having a global perspective on mission<\/strong><\/p>

1. Teaching at Harvest and other times, through sermons, on global issues.<\/p>

2. Donations and links to Mission organisation, such as Tearfund and Christian Aid<\/p>

To enable those working in the City to explore faith<\/strong><\/p>

1. Through the website, to explain the basics of the Christian faith<\/p>

2. Through 1-1 conversations and support<\/p>
